Scope and Contents: The 19th Century Newspaper Collection consists miscellaneous issues of various American newspapers during the nineteenth century. Part of the collection was used as a teaching tool at San Diego State University by two professors of communications in their respective classes: Barbara Hartung, Ph.D., now professor emerita, and Diane L. Borden, Ph.D. Other miscellaneous issues have been added to this core collection. The collection dates from 1803 to 1898.
