Scope and Contents of the Materials
The collection includes documentation on local arts and artists, city planning, commerce and manufacturing, crime and criminals, higher education, entertainment, local government and politics, state government and politics, journalists and journalism, law and legal profession, newspapers, police, radio and television, tourism, and transportation.
Biographical Note
Born in the Bronx and educated at UCLA, Keen arrived in San Diego in 1936 as a reporter for The San Diego Sun. He later became a reporter for the San Diego Union, a contributing editor of San Diego Magazine, and the editorial director for KFMB-TV. Keen received numerous prestigious awards for his investigative reporting and was referred to by his colleagues as "The Dean of San Diego Journalists."
