Title:
Peoples Temple Collection; Box 7, Virtual Item 14 -  Q055 - Part 2, Radio Transmissions
Date:
February 13 and 15, 1978
Description:

In connection with the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s investigation into the assassination of U.S. Congressman LEO J. RYAN at Port Kaituma, Guyana, South America, on November 18, 1978, a tape recording was obtained. (Line deleted) furnished tape recordings of radio transmissions between Guyana and San Francisco. (Name deleted) furnished tapes to the United States State Department for relay to the FBI.

(A marginal note indicates the words were deleted under Freedom of Information Act exemption b7d, "investigatory records compiled for law enforcement purposes … [and which] disclose the identity of a confidential source…")

On June 4, 1979, Special Agent (name deleted) reviewed the tape numbered 1B98-1. This tape was found to contain the following:

A tape of radio transmissions from Guyana on February 13, 1978 and February 15, 1978.

This tape was made by a source (possibly the FCC) to show the manner in which these radios were being utilized.

Much of the tape deals with medical names, i.e. Dr. BILL, Dr. ROGERS, Mrs. ROGERS, Dr. RICHARDS, and Dr. HUDSON.

There is no summary or transcript of this recording, but a full index is available on the Alternative Considerations of Jonestown website.
