Title:
Peoples Temple Collection; Box 6, Virtual Item 9 -  Q6-2 - Part 1, Radio Transmissions
Description:

In connection with the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s investigation into the assassination of the United States Congressman LEO J. RYAN at Port Kaituma, Guyana, South America, on November 18, 1978, a tape recording was obtained. This tape recording of radio transmissions on amateur radio frequencies was furnished to the FBI by (name deleted).

(A marginal note indicates the words were deleted under Freedom of Information Act exemption b7d, "investigatory records compiled for law enforcement purposes … [and which] disclose the identity of a confidential source…")

On March 2, 1979, Special Agent (name deleted) reviewed the tape numbered 1B46 #9. This tape was found to contain the following:

Ham radio transmissions of conversations between an unidentified female in Guyana and an unidentified male from the West Coast of the United States. In the conversation, these two individuals are discussing the "problem", and the woman is recommending that they will "probably all have to go the same course" and recommended that they will probably have to enlist the same "solution" that was used for her cousin. The woman then went on to inquire as to the number of people coming down and requested that the male find out. The female also made reference to letter that was to be sent to the "600 Club" and inquired as to if it was sent. This information is contained on Side 2 of this tape.

This tape appears to contain no additional information of evidentiary value.

There is no summary or transcript of this recording, but a full index is available on the Alternative Considerations of Jonestown website.
